Bangladesh is building a number of hi-tech parks to attract foreign direct investment in hardware and software manufacturing industry. The government plans to make Bangladesh a hardware-software manufacturing country. Experts said the new hi-tech parks will be the Centre of global investors in the industry. Bangladesh aims to become a middle income through the success in the ICT industry. Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) was established in 2010 as an autonomous body to develop the ICT industry through creation, management, operation and development of hi-tech parks. Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City (BHTC) is the first full-fledged special economic zone for IT/ ITES and hi-tech industry in Bangladesh.

A total of 12 IT parks will be established in 12 separate districts – Jamalpur, Natore, Thakurgaon, Comilla, Maymensing, Kareniganj (Dhaka), Barisal, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Khulna and Chattogram.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) is establishing Hi-Tech Park, Software Technology Park and IT Training & Incubation Centre throughout the country to attract the local and foreign investors for the development of Hi-Tech/ IT/ITES industries. It creates huge employment opportunities and skilled human resources. Hi-Tech park is full of opportunities to invest in Hi-Tech industry and promote business which are knowledge and capital-based. Information technology, Software Technology, Biotechnology, Renewable Energy, Green Technology, IT Hardware, IT Enabled Services and R&D etc. are major areas of investment in Hi-Tech industry in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has set up 28 (Twentyeighty) Hi-Tech Parks (HTP) / Software Technology Parks (STP) / IT Training and Incubation Centers across the country.

Project Registration at BHTPA:

The Project Registration is the process of accepting a proposed project as an investment under Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA). The BHTPA reserves the right to reject any proposed project without providing any explanation. The Project Registration Application fee is Non-Refundable. A Project Registration Certificate declares that BHTPA considers the proposed project as a genuine investment. However, Project Registration at BHTPA does not guarantee Land or Space allotment at any Hi-Tech or IT Park.
